Identifying the Twin at the Party!
In Part 1 of our lab, we were focusing on how pure substances react to other substances. In this part, (Part 2) we're going to see which of the pure substances make up the mixture.

To gain a better understanding of what we're doing, if you recall our first day where we are studying physical and chemical properties to help us identify a pure substance. Physical properties are like describing a person (slide 2). But there are times when substances look an awful lot like each other, but they clearly have different personalities. One way to tell them a part is to see how they interact with other substances, much like twins behave differently with other people. Slide 4 shows us what happens when one twin shows up and interacts with two other people. Likewise, when citric acid is dissolved in water, it will react with baking soda, to where as salt or even sugar dissolved in water will not.
